Your disrespect for us is unpardonable

Leader of the Minority Group in Parliament, Cassiel Ato Forson has expressed his disgust at the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and his two deputies for their failure to receive their petition.

The Minority Caucus in Parliament and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led a protest today to demand the resignation of the governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, and his two deputies.

The action follows the Central Bank’s loss of GH¢60.81 billion in the 2022 fiscal year and the use of over $250 million to construct a new headquarters at North Ridge.

The Minority Group was expecting to meet the Governor or his two deputies to present their petition to them; however, the Governor sent the Bank’s head of security to receive the petition in his stead.

Addressing the press, Ato Forson indicated that it is total disrespect and disregard for the Minority for the Governor and his Two Deputies to refuse to meet them when they had informed them earlier about their action.

“Let me say that I feel very disrespected as the opposition leader in Parliament because we demanded to present the petition to the Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana. He has two deputies, and they have all disrespected us.”

They have mismanaged teh affairs of the Central Bank; they have mismanaged the affairs of monetary policy and today Ghana our beloved country is on its knees, you are not responsible and we will not give you our petition,” he said.
