Yendi: One arrested, others on police wanted list for election related disturbances

One person has been arrested whilst others are being pursued by the Ghana Police Service for causing electoral disturbances in the Yendi constituency of the Northern region.

According to a statement issued by the police during the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries Saturday, January 27, 2024, “the persons are suspected of damaging electoral materials during the sorting of ballots in the ongoing internal parliamentary elections of the New Patriotic Party.”

Reports indicate nobody was injured in the process after law, order and security was restored by a joint police and military force in line with other established protocols.

“We wish to assure the public that all persons behind this unfortunate act shall be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” the police statement indicated.
