Deputy Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Baah Acheamfour has said that there will be no runoff in the 2024 elections as suggested by some individuals and groups
After the former Minister for Trade and Industry Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremanten resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and formed his own movement “Movement for Change” with the butterfly as their symbol, some political analysts have said it is possible for the 2024 election to enter into a runoff.
Astaunch member of the opposition NDC Mr. P V Jantuah Dadson has also made similar statements. To him, Mr. Alan Kyeremanten can never be underrated in the upcoming elections because he has a strong support base in the NPP especially the Ashanti Region which is their stronghold and it is possible that could take the elections into a runoff.
But Baah Acheanfour speaking on Abusua FM on the show “Gyaso Gyaso” stated categorically that, those with such thinking are only daydreaming.
To him, Former President John Dramani Mahama is going to win the 2024 election in the first round because he has been chosen by the first President of the Republic Dr Kwame Nkrumah to deliver Ghana from Akufo-Addo’s rule.
“There is not going to be any second round in the elections, Ghanaians are waiting to vote the NPP out and make changes in governance. Ghanaians are calling for change”, Baah Acheamfour stated.
He further disclosed that 2024 the elections is going to be the second independence for Ghanaians from the hardship under the Akufo-Addo’s rule.
“Nkrumah chose Mahama to lead Ghana for our second independence from Akufo-Addo”, he said.
“The 2024 elections the is a second independence for Ghanaians and it is unfortunate that Dr Kwame Nkrumah is no more. But he has appointed John Dramani Mahama to lead Ghanaians in the fight. We will deliver Ghana from the huge debt Akufo Addo has taken the country into, the high cost of living, high cost of fuel among others”, he stressed.
