Maurice Ampaw expresses readiness to avail himself before Asanteman Council

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has promised a showdown at Manhyia on Monday January 29, 2024, following his summon before the traditional Council.

The embattled lawyer was summoned on Monday, January 22, following his earlier outburst which sought to denigrate some chiefs in the Ashanti region.

“I am not afraid of anyone, we will talk law and no one is above the law. The chiefs could have just summoned me directly without going through Manhyia. Even if I decide not to work here in Kumasi, I can still fire from Accra. I will honour the invitation but you will clap for Lawyer Ampaw on Monday. I am going with the truth. Otumfuo supports the truth and I am going to lay bare the facts,” Lawyer Ampaw told Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin on GhanAkoma Tuesday, January 23.

On Monday, the General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, appeared before the some members of the Asanteman Council at the Manhyia Palace to respond to some unsavoury comments allegedly passed by the Ashanti regional Chairman of the party during at the vetting of the its parliamentary candidates.

Mr. Ampaw, during the deliberation was also invited for a derogatory remarks passed on some chiefs which video has since gone viral on social media.

“Some chiefs in the Ashanti region are corrupt,” part of his statement as captured in the video read.

Also summoned by the Council is Wontumi media whose platform the remarks were made.
