The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, faces prospects of Perjury following declarations he made under oath that has now come under heavy doubt.
The IGP who staged an emotional theatre performance during an appearance before the Committee swore under oath that he had no knowledge of the tape recording neither has he had any recent contact with or a relationship with Bugri Naabu.
However, following a series of developments in the in-camera hearing, it is emerging that the recording was carried out by a close subordinate of the Inspector General of Police, one ASP Asante Antwi, reportedly acting on his instructions.
The said ASP Asante Antwi has been reportedly investigated and questioned by National Security with all the facts indicateling the IGP might have been all but truthful on the subject of knowledge of the tape and contact with Bugri Naabu.
If it is established that the IGP lied under oath, he could potentially face charges of perjury, which is an indictable offense
