Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed he built his first house using proceeds from journalism.

The Minister was speaking from Morocco on the sidelines of an International Monetary Fund (IMF) Meeting monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

The Minister was speaking in reaction to recent incident of hooliganism by elements of the New Patriotic Party Youth Wing at the studios of UTV in Accra.

While condemning the incident, the Minister took a swipe at the Ghana Journalists Association for a statement it issued on the subject.

The Minister said he was also a journalist and had always been concerned about the welfare of Journalists and their conditions.

“I built my first house through journalism and took care of my two children from it..” He explained.

The Minister also expressed disappointment in the Ghana Journalists Association for their statement.

In the statement issued by the GJA in the aftermath of the assault, the Association expressed disappointment in the Minister’s response, citing a contrast in tone and language used when compared to previous incidents involving the attack on a radio presenter at Dagbon FM and other radio stations.

Oppong Nkrumah said the GJA did not conduct thorough due diligence before releasing their statement.
