Greg Fergus is a Canadian politician who has made history by becoming the first Black Canadian to be appointed as the House Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada. Born in Montreal in 1969, Fergus went on to pursue his education in International Relations and Social Science at a local university. He then earned his Master’s degree in International Relations at the Marianopolis College.
Fergus began his political career as a Member of Parliament for Hull-Aylmer, and then went on to become the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry. In March 2021, he was appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.
