A “darling boy” of the Minister of Education Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum who is the Ministry’s spokesman, Kwasi Kwarteng has been rejected by delegates in the just-ended New Patriotic Party primaries.
Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi the incumbent won the Asante Akim North NPP Primaries after what was expected to be a keen contest of 5 people which included party stalwarts such as Dr. SK Frimpong, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang and Stephen Ob3ng Saka.
At the close of polls, Andy Appiah Kubi who is the Incumbent polled 226 votes as against Dr SK Frimpong who polled 160.
Coming in third place was Mr. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang with 103 while Stephen Obeng Saka got 67.
At the bottom was Kwasi Kwarteng who is the Spokesperson of the Education Ministry who garnered 12 Votes.
Ahead of the election, the Education Ministry spokesman had claimed to be in a commanding lead.
A supposed Ashanti Regional Caucus of the Friends of Bawumia (FOB) conducted an opinion survey among 300 selected delegates from the Asante Akim North constituency which placed Kwasi Kwarteng tops.
“The strategic plan implemented by the Asante Akim North caucus FOB aimed to gauge voting preferences and trends within the constituency.
The survey, carried out through face-to-face contact, spanned five days, with each delegate spending approximately 30 to 40 minutes sharing their insights” it said.
Survey Results
The survey delved into various aspects concerning the candidates, including their perceived strengths, preferences, commitment to specific candidates, assessment of candidate information, and predictions regarding the undecided voters. The results provided a comprehensive overview of the delegates’ sentiments, which is vital in predicting the outcome of the upcoming primaries.
The breakdown of the delegate preferences is as
follows:
Andy Kwame Appiah Kubi: – 25%
Kwadwo Baah Agyemang: -8%
Stephen Obeng Saka:- 5%
Kwasi Kwarteng:-42%
Dr. S. K. Frimpong:-20%
This Research turned out false as Kwasi Kwarteng secured 12 Votes coming at the bottom of the contest.
