Focus on developing the game: Okudzeto Ablakwa tells GFA

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has advised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to focus on developing the fundamentals of the sport.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning on Friday, Okudzeto Ablakwa stressed the need for a clear path for football development.

”We must really make sure that the opacity is addressed so that the scarce resources we have, we can be sure exactly what we are doing with that money in sports. And that’s really where we must start from. Not about appointing new look, no matter.”

Many have criticised the GFA for going ahead to announce a five-member committee to oversee the appointment of the next Black Stars coach, without publicly apologising to Ghanaians.

The GFA’s five-member committee is chaired by GFA vice president Mark Addo with legal practitioner Ace Ankomah as his vice. Chief Director of the Sports Ministry, William Caesar Kartey, former Kotoko General Manager Samuel Opoku Nti and the GFA’s Director of Coaching Education Professor J.K Mintah are the other members of the committee.

Reacting to the decision, Mr. Ablakwa said; ”Even if you bring coaches like Klopp of Liverpool, the man City coach Pep Guardiola, even if you bring all of these outstanding coaches into this system, into this structure, don’t expect any magic.”
