Former General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has called on all aspirants in the partypresidential race to ensure they put the country first as they contest to represent the political party as flagbearer.
He says it is imperative that these leaders focus on making the lives of the people better rather than satisfying their own parochial interests.
Kwabena Agyei Agyepong is of the view that if they put the people first and not their personal interests first, no one will be hurt or harbour any form of hatred when they do not win the contest.
“What we call all for one, one for all, and the need to put the country first should always be the focus. We should understand that the centrepiece of governance and politics is the welfare of the ordinary person, especially those who do not have jobs. That will touch you so much that after the election you won’t be worried.
“I have served the party since Adu Boahen was our leader, and I have always maintained that whoever the masses support is the one the Lord also supports. So we will all support whoever wins in order to win power and change the fortunes of the people in the country. I am very passionate about the transformation of our country because this is a beautiful country. I have travelled the world, and there are only a few places that are more fascinating than Ghana.
He called on supporters of the various aspirants to be careful of the use of intemperate language after results have been declared so that they can come together as one party to win power and change the Ghanaian story.
